THOUGHTS

Pilot Season Expectations

DaJuan Johnson

I was talking to a private client last week about pilot season. The conversation went a little something like this: I said, I hear you saying a lot about pilot season coming up and how you don't want to miss out on it, BUT that sounds very vague. What exactly don't you want to miss out on?

Silence. Followed by a deep sigh.

There was no answer.

Sometimes we enter into situations or events not knowing exactly what we're hoping to get out of it. Then when it's over, we feel LET DOWN ...Frustrated...Disappointed...Defeated.

The problem is you were never clear on what you wanted to get out of it in the first place.

It got me to thinking...

Are you afraid to say what you actually want for fear that it's not going to come true? Or the bigger one, for fear of embarrassment. "If I put it out there, tell someone and it doesn't happen, then I'm going to feel dumb."  Am I getting warmer? But, that's only factoring in one side of the equation. The negative side. How about factoring in how you would feel if it did come true?

How does that feel?

So, what do you want out of this pilot season? Do you know? No more saying, "I just want to have a good one."Get specific on what you want. SHIFT your THINKING to how you will feel when you do get it! Visualize that. Let this move you into action. Let this be your driving force. Make decisions from this place. NOT the center of fear.

Here are a  few questions to get you started on what you might want during pilot season:

  • You want to audition for one pilot?
  • You want to book a pilot?
  • You want to read all the pilots out there?
  • Not to pull out all of your hair?
  • Spend less time in worry mode and more time in conscious action mode.

Take the time to write it down. In a journal. On a post-it. The trick is to get it out of your head and give it shape on paper.

THEN...we start working backwards. Now, that you have a CLEAR INTENTION or idea of what you want, you can focus your attention on getting it. Wake up in the morning thinking, "I'm going to take steps towards "X" today. Why? Because I'm booking a pilot."

Doesn't it feel great to live in the world of possibilities?! Now. Let's turn those possibilities into MASSIVE ACTION!

I dare you to try this! And then I double dog dare you to share it.

I'd love to hear from you. Shoot me an email or tweet me!
